Block Grain Belt Endorses Donnie Cox for Commissioner

Block Grain Belt Express would very much like to encourage everyone to vote for Donnie Cox for Caldwell County Eastern District Commissioner on November 8th. The Caldwell County Commission could play a pivotal role in whether or not Grain Belt is approved and obtains the power of eminent domain to build its massive high-voltage direct current (DC) transmission line designed primarily to serve eastern cities with higher prices for electricity. Eminent domain for this private company would allow the company to condemn the private land it needs for the line.

Missouri law states that BOTH the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) in Jeff City and each of the counties crossed must give approval before transmission lines may be built. Grain Belt has already been denied two times by the PSC and is now on its third attempt. Donnie Cox and the Caldwell County Commission have stood firm in defense of landowners and property rights.

I would say: towers which could exceed 150 feet in height, towers that could reach 200 feet tall would have massive impacts on property values! This massive line would also have a major impact on farm and ranch operations and would eliminate building sites and other future land-use options.

We very much need to re-elect Donnie because he has proven himself willing and able to help us protect our farms, our property rights, and our county from this out-of-state corporation with foreign ownership that is bent on a senseless land grab.
