Cowgill Day Highlights

On Aug. 6, 2016, we awoke to the most beautiful day we have had this time of the year. We were up early to start the day. We enjoyed breakfast prepared and served by the Cowgill United Methodist Church at 8 a.m. at the Fire Station. It was delicious and we had a good attendance. Thanks ladies.

By 8 a.m. some vendors started showing up to set up on Main Street.

Everyone was at the Fire Department to see the Extrication Demo put on by the Cowgill Fire Department with Polo Fire and Braymer Fire participating. This was very interesting and educational to watch as they demonstrate how they get someone out of a wrecked vehicle. Thank you Polo and Braymer for participating.

The Fire Department served BBQ pork, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and Polish sandwiches all day. Water, pop, lemonade and cold drinks were available all day as wanted.

The parade was at 2:00 p.m. starting south of the railroad tracks.

The kids’ games were held all day long on the grassy lot across from the pavilion. The kids had a great time with all kinds of games. “Thank You” Kenny, you were a great hit with this. But the dunking machine was a great hit for the older kids when they started it up, especially when Fire Chief Jeff Misel got on the hot seat. Everyone got in line then. And YES he got dunked!

From 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., we had entertainment by the “Shade Tree Jam Band” of Richmond with lots of good old country music. Thanks for coming to entertain us.

At 5:00 p.m. we were honored with the “Life Flight Eagle” out of Chillicothe landing north of the Fire Station and everyone could visit and look it over. Lots of information was learned by all.

Our evening entertainment was the band “North 65,” very good country music and lots of comedy. It was good old foot stompin’ music and laughs.

At 8:00 p.m. we drew our 50/50 raffle winner and it was won by Jamie Pauls of Chillicothe, who plays the keyboard for the “North 65” Band. Congratulations to Jamie on his win.

We would like to say “thank you” to all the merchants who donated to our merchant’s drawings and the businesses who helped sponsor the Cowgill Days events. Without you our Cowgill Days events would not be possible.
