Co-workers of fallen worker Lyndon D. Ebker pay tribute on the day of his funeral.

Saying goodbye to a fallen hero

This week, MoDOT laid to rest our co-worker and friend who lost his life serving the public. Lyndon D. Ebker was struck and killed in a work zone while doing his job as a flagger on a bridge flushing project on Rte. 100 near Bucheit Road in Franklin County. A longtime MoDOT worker, Lyndon had more than 30 years of service to the citizens of Missouri.

"Our sympathy and prayers go out to Lyndon's wife and family. Our hearts are heavy, too. He has lots of friends here and will be missed. Lyndon was a valuable employee and had a long history with MoDOT," said Greg Horn, MoDOT's St. Louis district engineer.

Since 1932, 132 MoDOT workers have lost their lives on Missouri's roadways. Lyndon is the first to be killed on the job since 2012.

This week is National Work Zone safety week, when MoDOT educates the public on how important it is to drive safely through work zones. We urge everyone to slow down and pay attention so everyone can go home to their families.
