Two ATV accidents in Caldwell County within one hours time
Saturday, April 16 at 6:20 p.m. a 2000 Polaris ATV driven by Anthony Barnett, age 7 of Kingston occurred as Barnett was driving across a field and struck a tree. He was taken by Life Flight Eagle to Childrens Mercy in Kansas City with serious injuries.
Saturday, April 16 at 7:15 p.m. a second accident occurred when a 2015 Polaris UAV driven by Michael Bell, 29 of Polo was westbound on Longhorn Drive and lost control on the gravel roadway. The vehicle slid sideways and the passenger, amanda O'Bryan, 23 of Bonner Springs, was ejected in the roadway. The vehicle continued to slide and ran off the north side of the roadway, overturned, ejecting the driver. The vehicle struck a fence post and a tree, coming to rest on its wheels in a field. Bell was pronounced dead at the scene by Caldwell County Paramedic David M. Eskew. O'Bryan was transported by Ray County EMS to Liberty Hospital.
