Bobcats win over Wolverines

Braymer ventured to Maysville Thursday night  for court action.

Gates started the scoring drive. Then Braymer and Maysville went back and forth for awhile. Maysville pulled ahead by 3 at one point, but that was pretty much the only lead they had on this night. O'Dell helped pull  Braymer ahead with his free-throw shooting, then Dudley swished a 3 to put Braymer ahead 12 to 10. Maysville tied it back up, but  received an intentional foul call. The Bobcats received the ball back and a 3 by O'Dell put the Cats up by 5 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter the Bobcats held onto the lead, although Maysville came within 4 with a couple of missed shots on the Cats end. Dudley stole the ball, O'Dell drove into the basket and to top off the run Miller dunked to pull the Cats ahead by 8. Atherton stole the ball and got fouled to put the Cats up by 9. At one point Braymer went ahead by 12, but Maysville kept fighting back and came within 6 of the Cats with a couple of 3's in a row. The Cats kept playing great defense and stealing the ball.

At the end of the fourth quarter Braymer pretty well controlled the game, outscoring the Wolverines by 11 and  came out with a 68 to 51 final.

O'Dell had another stellar night with 33 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals. Miller also had a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.  Dudley put in 11 points, 1 rebound 4 assists and 3 steals. Atherton had 4 points and 2 rebounds. Gates had 4 points, 1 assist and 2 steals. Shoe had 1 point, 1 assist, and 2 steals. Rogers had 1 rebound. Montoya had 2 rebounds and 1 assist. 

The Braymer JV also gave the Wolverines a run winning the game by 3. The first quarter was all about the defense. with the first point coming by a free throw by Gladieux. At the end of 1, the Wolverines led 2 to 1. Braymer  pulled ahead in the second. Braymer's K. O'Dell and Weidmier put in a 2 and 3 respectively in the second, but with a couple of turnovers, Maysville pulled ahead by 5. Braymer fought back and at half the Wolverines were only up by 3.

If you were looking for some wild stuff, this would have been the game to be at. In the 3rd P. Atherton hit a basket from behind the backboard, but it didn't count per the referees. Maysville shot the ball and it was deflected by K. O'Dell and of course it went in. With a couple of steals from the Cats, Braymer came within 4 at the end of the third.

Weidmier was on fire with the 3's tonight and hit a couple in the 4th to help Braymer pull ahead. Free throw shooting from Heusnner helped cinch the win. JV final 33 to 30. Weidmier led the JV with 13 points and 5 rebounds.
