The Hamilton Hornets traveled to Trenton and played the Bulldogs in an out of conference contest for their last regular season game, and the out come was in doubt for much of the contest.
Penney High held a slim 14-13 lead after one quarter, thanks to 8 points by Latroy Harper, but scored only 7 points in the second period to trail 28-21 at the half.
The Bulldog lead was cut to 4 heading into the final quarter, 43-39, as Latroy again scored 8 points for the Hornets.
Jaran Richman led the 4th quarter come back with 11 points, the final 2 giving Hamilton the lead for the first time since the first quarter, and ten seconds left in the contest. The Hornets held on for a 61-60 road victory.
Telly Harper had a double-double, scoring 15 points, leading the team with 15 rebounds, while handing out 3 assists, stealing the ball 3 times, and a team leading 2 blocked shots. Latroy led the team in scoring with 23, grabbed 4 rebounds, delivered 3 assists, and stole the ball twice. Richman scored 16 points (making both free throw attempts and hitting 2 of 3 from beyond the arc), led the team in assists with 5, rebounded the ball 4 times, and stole the ball once. Korby Ford rounded out the scoring with 7 points, assisting on 3 baskets, and rebounded the ball once. Wes Pratt snared 1 rebound and Derek Dixon issued 1 assist.
Trenton was led by Cree Mullenix with 23 points, Brice Dillon's 17, and 10 for Connor Cotton.
Penney hit 4 three's and made 9 of 13 free throws. The Bulldogs made nine 3-pointers and hit 7 of 14 free throws.
Coach Rick Ross and his Hamilton Hornets end the regular season with a record of 19-3 as they head into District play this week in Maysville.
