Lady Hornets Over Chillicothe

Last Monday night the Hamilton Hornets coached by Jim Dickey hosted the Hornets from Chillicothe in a non-conference softball game.

Penney High pitcher Sydney Bottorff scattered 5 hits over 7 innings allowing only one unearned run in the top of the 6th in a 4-1 decision. After facing the minimum number of batters in the top of the first, the home town Hornets scored 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. After 1 out, Lyndi Heldenbrand singled to right field and moved to second on a pass ball. Georgia Gibler drove home Heldenbrand with a single to right and was replaced by courtesy runner Murphy Park. Park moved to 2nd on a ground out before scoring on a single to left center by Bottorff.

Hamilton added another run in the bottom of the 2nd after 2 were out. Mati Park reached 1st on an infield single and soon stole 2nd base. Alexx Angle walked and Heldenbrand drove in Park with a single to center.

Penney scored their final run of the game in the 5th inning. Alexx Angle led off with a bunt single before stealing 2nd base. Heldenbrand reached on an error with Angle moving to 3rd. With 2 out, McKauley Prothero singled to right driving in Angle for the 4th run of the game.

For the game, Heldenbrand singled twice and drove in 1 run; Prothero singled, stole a base, and recorded 1 RBI; Gibler singled and drove in a run; Bottorff singled with 1 RBI; Angle walked once, singled and stole a base; Mati Park singled, walked, and stole 1 base; Cheyenne Farrow sacrificed once, singled and stole 1 base. Chillicothe committed 3 errors to Hamilton's 2.

The Lady Hornets record improves to 11-3.
