Breckenridge GS Troop 515 is collecting non-perishable food items for the Caldwell County Food Pantry. The donation box is located in the hallway at the school entrance and donations will be accepted until November 21.
Although I am a bit sad that they wouldn't let me volunteer as an assistant, this is a good project.
Stevie Sollars in Health Services Technology is among students from Grand River Technical School (GRTS) who have been recognized as "Students of the Quarter" for 1st quarter of the 2015-2016 school year. GRTS instructors selected students for this honor based on the following criteria: outstanding work ethic, excellent attendance, good manners, and superior grades. Students receive certificates of excellence, specially-designed sweatshirts recognizing their achievements, and are featured on the GRTS
"Wall of Fame.
The Breckenridge R-I Board of Education held its regular meeting October 12, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the FACS room. Vice President Larry Gray called the meeting to order. The agenda and consent agenda were approved. The following were visitors for the meeting: Mrs. Mindy Kincade, Miss Beth Skipper, Mrs. Whitney Ledbetter, Ms. Heather Woodcock, Rebecca Gray, and Remington Woodcock. These visitors made a presentation to the board on leadership development for the upper elementary grades. The board thanked them for their attendance and hard work.
The board appointed Mr. David Brown as homeless coordinator for the district. The board reviewed and reauthorized the district’s homeless student policy. They reviewed and reauthorized the district’s policies on Title I procedures (including the complaint procedure, parent involvement plan, and parent compact). The board discussed the balance letter for the district. The surplus balance for the district grew to 29.60%. The board discussed the district’s APR. Mr. Skinner discussed some strategies to improve ACT scores. The board approved Erate Exchange for processing Erate application for the district. Mr. Skinner discussed the ongoing review in the Tiered Monitoring process from DESE on the Federal Programs.
The board will meet at 7:15 p.m. on November 9, 2015.
