Cowgill Days set for August 1
On August 1, the City of Cowgill will be celebrating with a one-day event and hoping for a beautiful day and a wonderful crowd.
The day starts at 8 with the Cowgill Fire Department serving breakfast until 10 a.m. at the fire station. This is a free will offering.
The second annual David Culter Car Show will be held north of the Fire Station and the registration will be from 9 to 11 a.m. with the judging to start at 12 noon. The winners will be announced during the parade. Bring those beautiful cars and join in the fun.
The Baby/Granny Show will be held at the Cowgill Baptist Church with registration from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Judging starts at 9:30 a.m. The babies can be from anywhere, but the Grannys must have a Cowgill address. Baby ages are from birth to 36 months. The winners will be announced at 10:30 at the pavilion. Please show your baby in a onsie or swimsuit. There is a $2 entry fee.
The Cowgill Fire Department will have an extrication demonstration at the fire station at 11 a.m. This shows how they can get a person out of a car wreck.
The parade will begin at 2 p.m. starting south of the railroad tracks and will go north through town. The winners of the car show will be announced as they pass by the pavilion.
The fire department water games will start at 3 p.m. across from the pavilion. This will be followed with the back seat drivers contest. Always exciting and funny.
"The Shade Tree Jam Band" will entertain the crowd with country music at the pavilion from 3 to 6 p.m. There will be lots of comedy and lively country and gospel music to enjoy. From 6 to 8:30 p.m. there will be entertainment by "Country Jamboree" with classic country and comedy. They will be playing later this year at the Livingston County Fair. So bring your toe tappin' or dancin' shoes and join the fun.
At 8 p.m. there will be the 50/50 raffle ticket drawing. These tickets will be sold all day at the fire department and registration table.
A street dance will be held from 8:30 to 11 p.m. at the pavilion with a DJ from J and K Entertainment.
Craft and vendor booths will be set up on Main St. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Registration for the merchant donated gifts will be held at the pavilion beginning at 8:30 a.m. You must be at least 13 years old to register.
There will be Merchant Drawings, Kids Games and Cake walks throughout the day.
The fire department will be serving hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, Polish sausages and drinks.
Port-a-pots will be available.
The Cowgill United Methodist Church will be having a raffle for a $175 heart pendant, a raffle for a Harley Davidson Motorcycle Transformer and a flashlight from Sears. Tickets are $1 each or 3 for $2. There will also be a bake sale, and grab bags filled with useful items for all ages. There will also be surprise bingo, garage sale tables and tables set up for kid's activities. Proceeds of this will go for church upkeep.
Cowgill Days is sponsored by the Cowgill Fire Department and Cowgill Community Association. Proceeds will go toward the Cowgill Fire Department community education, equipment and training.
