C.H. Houghton, Jr.

C.H. Houghton, Jr., age 94, of Polo, MO, passed away at his home in Polo on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016.

C.H. was born on Jan. 20, 1922, in Mirabile, to C.H. and Jennie McNary Houghton. He had graduated from the Mirabile High School. He had been a farmer and had been committed to developing the potential of young people in agriculture programs such as 4-H and FFA.

He married Lena Alice Carter on May 2, 1942, in Kansas City. She preceded him in death in 2009. He was also preceded by his parents; son, Dr. Tom Houghton; infant son, Danny; one brother and sisters.

Survivors include his son, Jerry (Jane) Houghton of Lamar; daughter-in-law, Debbie Houghton of Lakeland, FL; daughter Yvonne (Glenn) Ridder of Marthasville; daughter, Connie (David) Fleming of Lakeland, FL; son, Dean (Jerilyn) Houghton of Polo; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren.

Cremation has been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. Family and friends are invited to the Shelter House at the Polo Stagecoach Park, south of Polo, on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. to visit with the family.
