Hamilton R-2 discusses Disaggregated Test Data

The Hamilton Board of Education met for their regular session on Wednesday. All members of the board were present except for Will Railsback.

Christa Schoff and Raven Shaffer gave the student council report. They reported that basketball only has ten boys but they hope to have more after football season; cheerleading has been making signs; dance is preparing for basketball season; the junior class has started the concession stands. In FFA two people earned their American degrees, Gabe Bowen and Sydney Ernat; 15 students went to the National Convention; 32 freshmen attended the Greenhand initiation; new posts and cables were installed at the senior parking lot; and they are working on two sheds. Saturday, band has a parade and they are working on music for their Christmas concert; the National Honor Society has a carry in tomorrow; Student Council has received their water fountains and they are waiting for them to be installed; the art club will begin painting the pool soon, and the book club is currently reading a book.

The school’s counselors, Chelle Phillips, Jan Wilkerson and Erin Yuille evaluated the school’s performance of the Disaggregated Test Data. They rated the program giving it a score of 4 out of 5, as they feel there is always a need for improvement. Strengths of the program were professional development and the transitioning to online testing is now under control. Concerns were financing and the fact that current scores cannot be used to determine student growth. Recommendations were to better identify gifted students in middle and high school, all assessment data needs to be used for college and career readiness.
