Arvilla P. Peterson

Arvilla Pauline Peterson, age 99, of Atlantic, IA, died Monday, Feb. 05, 2018, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, IA.

Arvilla was born July 14, 1918, in Lincoln, NB, the daughter of Clyde Robert Splain and Bertha Loretta (DeShay) Splain. She was educated in Nebraska and married Dean Alvin Peterson in July of 1942. They farmed in Missouri and Iowa until Dean’s death in 1989.

Arvilla was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic.

Preceding Arvilla in death were her parents; husband, Dean; brothers, Virgil and Richard Splain; great-grandson, Liam Peterson; half-sister, Pat Jepson; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Peterson.

Those surviving Arvilla are her son, Wesley (Anne) Peterson; two daughters, Arlene (Bruce) Peters and Joyce Peterson; five grandchildren, Tony Peters, Paula Nuetzling, Scott Peterson, Jay Peterson and Justus D’Amico; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews

A visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, IA. A graveside service and interment will be held in the Walnut Cemetery in Walnut, IA, following the Prayer Service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Heritage House Good Samaritan Fund or St. Croix Hospice. Condolences may be left at www.hockenberryfamilycare.com.
