Bert "Bud" M. Vaught

Bert "Bud" M. Vaught, age 77, of Polo, MO, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 5, 2021, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.

Bud was born on May 30, 1943, the son of Michael Stewart and Muriel (Stepleton) Vaught in Polo. Bud was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Polo and was a member of the church. He was a 1961 graduate of Polo High School. On June 9, 1962, he was united in marriage to Doris Jean McCubbin in Polo. In addition to being a diversified businessman, Bud worked for the City of Polo for 25 plus years as the public works manager. He owned a grocery store in Meadville and Polo. Bud also sold real estate and was an auctioneer.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; sisters, Mary Doyle and Betty Mott; brothers-in-law, Ron Williams, John McCartney, and Junior McCubbin.

Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie (Mark) Elder of Cape Fair; son, Bert (Tania) Vaught of Polo; granddaughters, Katelin and Hanna Vaught of Polo; sisters, Ruby Williams of Kingston and Beverly McCartney of Ft. Dodge, IA; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 10, at the Polo Christian Church. A visitation was held Sunday evening at the church. Burial was held at Prairie Ridge Cemetery, west of Polo. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Polo Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
