Bettie Jean Oberhelman
Bettie Jean Oberhelman, age 91, of Gallatin, MO, formerly of Lee’s Summit, Hamilton and Cameron, passed away on April 8, 2016, at the Daviess County Nursing Home in Gallatin.
Bettie was born on Aug. 29, 1924, in Kansas City, to Ora and Edna Hughes Brown. She was a high school graduate and had worked at Western Electric in Lee’s Summit.
Bettie was a Methodist and had belonged to numerous organizations.
On July 1, 1942, she married Wendell Wayne “Obie” Oberhelman in Overland Park, KS. He preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded by her parents; a granddaughter; a grandson; three brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include a daughter, Wendy Oberhelman of Cameron; son, Gary Oberhelman of Lee’s Summit; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Steele of Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, April 11, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund. Online obituaries may be viewed at www.bramfuneralservices.com.
