Charlene Jean Ward

Charlene Jean Ward age 92, of Braymer, passed away Wed., June 15, 2022, at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe with her Granddaughter Kelly by her side.

She was born Dec. 9, 1929, in Helena, Montana, the daughter of Charles and Agatha Billings. They moved to Independence, where she graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1948.

On May 4, 1951, she married Lionel Dale Ward. They had 3 children Sandy, Ron, and Chuck. He proceeded her in death in May of 2002.

She worked as Recorder of Deeds for over 30 years and later for Bill Adams for several years. She also worked for Jackson County as Deputy Recorder and Chief Deputy Recorder.

Charlene was a lifetime member of The Community of Christ Church and held various jobs. She loved to quilt, could pick up any instrument and figure out how to play it, and many more talents. She loved her family with her whole heart and would do anything for them.

Survivors include; her two sons, Ron and Billie Ward of Braymer and Chuck and Sherry Ward of Independence; grandchildren, Kelly and Steve Gabrielson of Chillicothe; Kamron Ward and Fiancé Daniel Pollock of Vista, CA; Kylie Ward and Fiancé JD Ellis of Smithville; Ren and Lara Chaplin-Ward of Independence; Aaron Ward of Independence; and great-grandchildren Ethan, Juliann, and Lydia Gabrielson and Niece Holly Rabourn.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Lionel, her parents, her daughter Sandy, and sister Thelma Morgan.

There will be a private Graveside service with close friends and family on July 2nd at 10:30 at White Cemetery, near Braymer.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Camp Farwest in Stewartsville.
