Charles "Junior" Gardner
Charles "Junior" Gardner
Charles "Junior" Gardner age 90 of Kingston, departed us on Aug. 28, 2024, at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer, after struggling from congestive heart failure.
Junior was born on May 17, 1934, the son of Charlie and Rosa (Burnett) Gardner, in Kingston. He was a 1952 graduate of Polo High School.
In 1957, Junior was inducted into the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, KY, later going to Fort Lewis, WA. There he was involved in the Vehicle Motor pool. Upon returning back home, Junior engaged in farming and doing local jobs for farmers in the area. Later he drove the road grader for the Mirabile Township which is something he enjoyed doing.
On November 22, 1975, he was united in marriage to Judith Ann (Judy) Shaffer of Cowgill with Bob Burnett officiating. They built a new home in the Mirabile area and always resided there.
Junior was a Christian and member of the Mirabile Community Church attending until his health declined. He also served on the Mirabile Cemetery board.
If you didn't know it, green and yellow were Junior's favorite colors. This is also how his love for John Deere equipment showed! If it had John Deere on it, it was the best!
Junior faithfully attended the Steam and Gas Engine Show in Hamilton every year and was there for each day of the show. He loved to see the thrashing demonstration and parade of power. He and Judy enjoyed going to flea markets to just look around, but they never got far from home. Many people have their own memories of Junior, but Junior had his memories too. Even up to the end, Junior could remember stories, what someone did for a living, snow storms he drove in, and what equipment they had. Junior will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Preceding Junior in death were his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Maurice Robison; his wife, Judy in 2021; and his brother-in-law Stan Shaffer.
Survivors include brother-in-law Bob (Joyce) Shaffer, Kearney; sister-in-law Carolyn Shaffer, Cowgill; niece Jackie (Howard) DeVaul, Kingston; nephews Richard (Barbara) Robison, Tucson, AZ., and Roy (Sue) Robison, Newton, Iowa; and many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the Mirabile Community Church, Mirabile.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Mirabile Cemetery, Mirabile, MO.
