Daniel Edward Spidle "Junior Sackman"
Daniel Edward Spidle "Junior Sackman", age 80, of Polo, MO, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 7, 2021, at his home. Dan was born on Sept. 17, 1940, the son of Roscoe Edward and Julia Jean (Clements) in Polo. He grew up in Polo and was a 1959 graduate of Polo High School. On Nov. 17, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Heuertz at St. James Catholic Church in Kansas City.
Dan worked in a bakery factory during his early years. Later, Dan was the Maintenance Supervisor and a school bus driver for the Polo R-7 School District for 30 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hamilton. Dan also served as vice-president and president of the Caldwell County Historical Society. He was a history buff, especially local history.
Dan always enjoyed sharing and exchanging jokes. He spent time caring for and preserving old cemeteries, including the Mumpower Cemetery on his farm. Dan enjoyed Nascar and raced modified stockcars in his early days. Dan was strictly a Ford man. He will be dearly missed.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jeremy Russell Fields; and a half-brother, Louis Spidle.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; daughters, Portia (Brian) Sowers of Waverly and Letitia “Tisha” (Mike) Hinchey of Polo; sister, Barbara (Morris) Graves of Forsythe; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, at Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo. The Rosary will be prayed following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hamilton. *** Masks are required at the church.*** A private burial will be held at Mumpower Cemetery in Polo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Children's Mercy Hospital in care of the funeral home.
