Eva Marie Segar age 93, of Hamilton, passed away on Oct. 22, 2023, at a nursing home in Hamilton.
Eva was born on Nov. 14, 1929, in Queen City, to Alfred and Clio (Tade) Turner. She graduated from the Queen City high school. She was a freelance writer and retired from Cameron Insurance Company in Cameron, working with policy holder services.
Eva married Estel Segar in 1947. They moved north of Hamilton in 1951. Estel and Eva loved to dance and over the years belonged to several square dancing clubs. They were able to travel the world and especially enjoyed southern Texas and Mexico.
In her free time she enjoyed quilting, tatting, crochet, sewing, watercolor painting, and she made her own llama wool and knitted with it. Riding motorcycles, boating, and camping were activities she also enjoyed with her husband. Eva was a member of a writer's guild and she wrote many articles for the St. Joseph News Press and Successful Farmers magazine, as well as publishing and sharing her own autobiography entitled "Yellow Britches".
Preceding Eva in death were her parents, her husband, Estel, her daughter-Susan Garayalde, and her grandson-Benjamin Bridges.
Survivors include her children-Ed (Bonnie) Segar, Hamilton; Wanda Bridges, Maplewood, MN; and Glen Segar, Harper's Ferry, WV; grandchildren-Lori Bowen (Cameron Fast), Jason (Jennifer) Segar, Niki and Robert Garayalde, and Andrew (Aleshia) Bridges; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters-Beulah Segar, Polo, MO., and Mary Runkle, Colorado Springs, CO.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Mon., Oct. 30, 2023, at Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Mon., Oct. 30, at Bram Funeral Home, 1 hour prior to the service.
Interment is located at McCrary Cemetery in Gallatin.
