James William “Jim” McClain

James William “Jim” McClain, age 71, a resident of Breckenridge, MO, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at St. Luke’s North Hospital in Kansas City.

Jim was born the son of William James and Elmira Louisa (Reynolds) McClain on April 2, 1946, in Chillicothe. Jim graduated from Breckenridge High School in May of 1964. After graduation, he attended Central Missouri State College, now UCM. On March 30, 1972, Jim married the love of his life, Diana Lynn Tibbs, in Hamilton. God blessed their marriage with daughters, Tammy, Tish Jenny, and son, Josh. Jim worked as a foreman at Stride Rite Shoes in Hamilton for 28 years until his retirement.

Jim was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, and friend. Jim loved his wife, children, and grandchildren more than life itself. He loved his life on the farm. Jim never met a stranger and if he did, they weren’t a stranger long. He loved to hear the stories of life. He loved the country and farming.

Jim was a faithful member of the Highview Baptist Church and loved God and his Savior Jesus Christ. Jim served as a member of the Breckenridge School District Board of Education and was a member of the Breckenridge Masonic Lodge.

Jim’s life accomplishments are far too many to list, but you would have never known it from speaking with Jim. One of the many wonderful traits of Jim was his humility.

Survivors include his wife, Diana, of the home; one son, Josh, of the home; three daughters, Tammy (Brandon) Wolf of Mooresville, Tish (Jimmy) Stoner of Higginsville, and Jenny (Justin) Hoffmeier of Rosendale; seven grandchildren, Cole and Bryce Wolf, Parson, Brayton, Nolan, and Ada Kay Stoner, and William Hoffmeier; three brothers, Robert McClain of Carson City, NV, Randy (Robin) McClain of Oak Grove, and Larry (Melanie) McClain of Lee’s Summit; nephew, Alex McClain; and nieces, Rachel Satterfield and Paula Wooderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandfather, Everett; brothers, Freddie and Ronnie; sister-in-law, Joshline Wooderson; father and mother-in-law, Lyman and Dorothy Tibbs; uncle, Don and aunt, Eula Reynolds; niece, Heather McClain; and uncle, Charles and Marilyn McClain.
