John Douglas Catron, Jr.
John Douglas Catron, Jr., age 82, of Hamilton, MO, passed away at his home on October 10, 2019. John lived in Hamilton most of his life and lived in Lexington for about nine years.
John was born in Chula on July 8, 1937, to John D. Catron, Sr., and Mary Cleopha Thompson Catron. He graduated from the Hamilton High School in 1955 and then served his country in the Reserves. John owned and operated the Cardinal Lanes in Hamilton for over 20 years. He also drove a school bus for the Hamilton school district, mowed for many years at the Hamilton Lakeview Golf Course, and worked for Farmer’s Coop in Lexington.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hamilton and served as the Mayor of Hamilton for two terms.
John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Luana; two sisters, Mary Jensen and Frances Ray Catron; an infant sister; a great-grandchild; and son-in-law, David Yelton.
Survivors include his wife, Albyrta Catron of Hamilton; children, David (Nancy) Catron of Holt and Linda Yelton of Camdenton; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Grace Smith, Helen Willard, and Dorothy Raney, all of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Sacred Heart Church in Hamilton. A visitation and Rosary will be held on Monday, Oct. 14, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. The Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m., with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Hamilton. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospitals.
