Joyce Ann Sprouse

Joyce (Lotz) Sprouse, aka, Mamo, Ginga, and Grammy, age 77, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on May 30, 2021, at Warsaw Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw.

She was born to Dale and Ruby Lotz on April 16, 1944, in Polo, and had four sisters, Betty, Reba, Dorlene, and Anita.

Joyce wed James E. “Jim” Sprouse, her high school sweetheart, at Polo Baptist Church in 1962, and they made their home in Kansas City with three children.

Joyce graduated from Polo High School in 1962. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing. Her music teacher in high school, Ms. Schaeffer, greatly influenced her love of music. Joyce was part of the Glee Club and Girls Quartet, as well as on the student council in high school. She continued to play music and sing specials at local churches the family attended. She worked at Price Candy and then Hallmark Cards, Inc. in Kansas City, prior to becoming a full time mother and later, grandmother.

She is survived by her three children, Cindi Sprouse of Lenexa, KS, James K. Sprouse of Kansas City, Julie (Sprouse) and Darrell Law of Osage Beach; four grandchildren, Samantha Sprouse, Venus and Jesse Sprouse, Grace Law, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim, of 42 years; her parents, Dale and Ruby; and her sister, Reba.

In honor of Joyce’s wishes, a small private ceremony will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Joyce to Hopewell Cemetery, or Hopewell Baptist Church located in Cowgill.
