Leota Snyder
Leota Snyder, age 84, passed away unexpectedly at her home near Jameson, MO, on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016.
Bertha Leota (Brewer) Snyder was born on Oct. 31, 1931, to Mary Frances (Moorshead) and Robert Lincoln Brewer, near Breckenridge. The family moved east of Jameson while she was very young, and she graduated in 1949 from Jameson High School. Leota was united in marriage to Lawrence Adkison, on May 15, 1949, and they had three children, Steven Lynn, Margaret Elaine and Robert Ross. They lived near Gallatin, Breckenridge and Birmingham until Lawrence transferred with the railroad to Greenfield, IL. In 1970, they returned to live and farm near Jameson. They later divorced, and on Jan. 29, 1983, she married William F. Snyder. She and Bill owned and operated the Snyder True Value Hardware store until July, 1997, when they sold the store and retired to the farm. Leota was active in PTA, the Jameson Baptist Church, 4-H Club, the Jameson Lions Club, Jameson Alumni Association, Jameson Coterie Club, and was seamstress for the Gallatin Theater League.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Leona Lee; and husband, Bill.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Madelynn) Adkison, Elaine (Steve) Bohannon, Bob (Patty) Adkison, all of Jameson; step-children, Clint (Melissa) Snyder of Troy, MT.; Susan (Dan) Nickell of Sedalia, Doug Snyder and Vicki of Ozark, and Dale Snyder and Maria of Chillicothe; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
She loved her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was blessed to have a wide circle of friends, neighbors, cousins and relatives that will miss her greatly.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, where friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Grand River Cemetery near Jameson.
