Loran Ray Allen

Loran Ray Allen, age 90, of Hamilton, MO, passed away on Sept. 10, 2021, at the Cameron Regional Medical Center in Cameron. He lived in Daviess County and the Hamilton area his entire life.

Loren Ray was born on Nov. 15, 1930, in Daviess County to Vollie and Vera (McCrary) Allen Dominique. He graduated from the Hamilton High School, and then honorably served his country in the Navy from 1950-1954. While in the Navy he was trained on diesel engines, and he also worked as a mine sweeper. He was a lifelong farmer. In the past he drove a truck for Standard Oil and worked in road construction as well as quarry work.

He is a past member of the Hamilton American Legion Post #285, earned his state farmer in FFA in high school, and he loved to tell many stories.

On June 9, 1957, he married Beverly Sue Wood in Daviess County. She preceded him in death in 2018. He was also preceded by his parents; grandson, Duane Bolling; and brothers, Lloyd and Charles Allen and their spouses.

Survivors include his children, Danny Allen and Lorna (Edmond) Blackburn, Sr., both of Hamilton; two grandchildren, Kyle (Sonja) Bolling and Dusty (Kristina) Bolling; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Beverly Shaffer, Faye (Ervin) Mcgowin, and Becky (Gerald) Lee; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A visitation will be held from 12:30 until the service time on Thursday, just prior to the service, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Hamilton. Memorials may be made to the McCrary Cemetery in Gallatin.
