Lorraine June Selleck

Lorraine June Selleck, age 85, of Braymer, MO, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at Hillcrest Manor in Hamilton. Lorraine was born on June 18, 1933, in Calvert, NY, the daughter of James and Louis (Lovelace) Tripp. She was reared and educated in the area of her birth.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Reverend John Benjamin Selleck of Elmira, NY, in August 19, 1961. After their marriage, Lorraine and John would begin their life in the ministry. Reverend John and Lorraine preached all over the country and served many churches over the years. For the past 20 years, they served at churches in Missouri, including Waverly, Gillman City, and Orrick. Lorraine’s role as a preacher’s wife came with many extra titles and duties that she performed at the churches they pastored. They have lived on their acreage, south of Braymer at Tinney Grove, for the past 18 years.

Lorraine worked outside the home for a short while in the nursery at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rogers, AR, while living there. Lorraine was a country girl; her and John enjoyed living in the country on their acreage, where she enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. Lorraine was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Richmond.

Survivors include her husband, John Selleck, of the home; one brother, Reverend Harry Tripp (Esther) of North Ridge, CA; one sister, Carol Ann Rolison of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and past parishioners of all the churches they have served.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Barbara Clemens and Janice Smith; and one sibling in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at the Assembly of God Church in Richmond. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Tinney Grove Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Assembly of God Church in Richmond. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street, P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085. Please share your memories with Lorraine by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
