Nellie Marie Gurley

Nellie Marie Gurley, age 95, a resident of Braymer, MO, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer.

Nellie was born the daughter of Rudolph and Alice (Pitzer) Meyers on July 3, 1920, in Hannibal. She was united in marriage to Joel Clarence (Whick) McBee on Feb. 8, 1941, in Bowling Green. She was then married to Nathan Dingle in June 1969 in Hamilton. Later she was married to Lesley Gurley on Feb. 14, 1986 in Hamilton.

Nellie was a member of the Baptist church in Hamilton. She was a member of the Livewire Sunday School class, Spring Hill Club, and Women’s Missionary Union. Nellie was an avid bowler and she enjoyed fishing, making quilts and card playing. She loved getting together with her family.

Survivors include two sons, Mark McBee (Cindy) of Hamilton and Jerry McBee (Dixie) of Braymer; three daughters, Bonnie Fraser (Ed) of New London, Loretta Batchelar (Gary) of Bettendorf, IA, and Jackie Ison (Paul) of Union Star; one stepdaughter, Darlene Puckett (Raymond) of Hamilton; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Gilert of Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; four brothers; two sisters; two sons; one grandson; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; one step grandson; two stepsons; and one stepdaughter.

Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer on Sunday, July 26, at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 25, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Mercy Hospital and/or McBee Chapel Cemetery, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.
