Poppy Maxine Dockray

Poppy M. Dockray age 53, of Hamilton, passed away at her home on July 9, 2022. She and her family moved to Hamilton 25 years ago.  Her hometown was Guyton, GA, where she grew up.

Poppy was born on Oct. 23, 1968, in Georgia to Dannie Webster Oglesby, Sr., and Maxine McKinney Oglesby.  She graduated from the Effingham County High School in 1986.  Poppy worked as a para-professional for the Hamilton R-II School District, and she also owned Poppy's Bakery.  

When Poppy was younger, she was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star in Georgia.  She was a board member for The Green Hills Community Action Agency, and an active 4-H member always volunteering and helping with cake decorating.  She was a therapeutic riding volunteer, loved dancing, baking, and visiting the ocean and beach.  Poppy very much enjoyed her job at the school working with children, but she especially loved spending time with her grandkids.

Poppy was preceded in death by her parents, her step-dad-Rayford Lee, and a daughter-Sara Virginia Dockray.

Survivors include; 3 children-Brittany Maxine Santee of Kansas City; Donald Ellis Dockray, III (Stephanie) of Cameron; and Elizabeth Wren Dockray, of the home; 4 grandchildren-Damien, Raymond and Makayla Santee and Johnathan Clark Dockray; 2 siblings-Danny (Susie) Oglesby and Chris Oglesby; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 15, 2022, at 11 a.m., at the Cameron Restoration Branch Church, 1008 W. 3rd St., Cameron, MO.  

Visitation is Thursday evening, July 14, 2022, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton, from 6 to 8 p.m. 

Interment will be located at The Kingston Cemetery in Kingston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a college fund for her daughter, Wren.
