Robert “Bob” Halsey
Robert “Bob” Halsey, age 85, of Polo, MO, entered eternal life Sept. 8, 2016, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, after a brief illness.
Bob entered this life June 2, 1931, the son of Glenn and Winifred Jones Halsey in Kansas City. Later his mother married Jesse Farmer and Bob gained a stepfather and farming mentor. He attended Central High School in Kansas City, until the family moved to Polo in August of 1947. Mr. Halsey was a 1948 graduate of Polo High School. Bob served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict from May 6, 1952 until his honorable discharge on Feb. 28, 1954. He had been a member of the Polo United Methodist Church since the fall of 1947, and later served several years as the chairman of the trustees and on the board of trustees. Mr. Halsey was past commander and adjutant of the Polo American Legion Post #557. Bob also served on the Cowgill Cemetery Board and Caldwell County FSA committee for several years. He had a special place in his heart for land, Farmall tractors, golden retrievers, and his family. Bob loved to restore tractors, farm, and he bowled for a number of years with a league at the Braymer Bowling Alley.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather; and brother-in-law, Charlie Allard.
Mr. Halsey leaves to mourn his passing a sister, Barbara Allard of Polo; niece, Kimberly Allard Thompson of Polo; great niece, Billie Kay Thompson; great-nephew, Justin Thompson; and great-nephew, Jason Thompson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at the Polo United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Gubser officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Cowgill Cemetery in Cowgill, with full military honors provided by Polo American Legion Post #557. Serving the family and arrangements are under the direction of Stith Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Polo, where friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
