Robert H. Moss

Robert H. ‘Bob’ Moss, age 87, of Lockwood, MO, formerly of Neosho, died March 26, 2016, at Freeman West Hospital, following an illness. Bob was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Kingston, the second of nine children to Russell and Sarah (Matchett) Moss.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and moved to the Neosho area in 1957 from Columbia. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, and prior to that, he had owned and operated Bob Moss MFA, Bob Moss Skelly and Moss’s Mini Mart.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Neosho and a member of the Rural Letter Carrier’s Association, American Legion and NW Missouri Steam and Gas Engine Association. Bob married Jo-Anne ‘Jody’ Hamlet on Sept. 18, 1949, at her parent’s home in Hamilton. She preceded him in death on March 26, 2015.

He is survived by three daughters, Barbie Cope (Jeff) of Lockwood, Brenda Piliouras (George) of Oakland Township, MI, and Bobbi Lee (Matt) of Holiday Island, AR; grandchildren, Arin Ogden (Riley), Kaci Cope, Jessie Schrauger (Stephen), Lauren Keller (Alex), Kelly Brown (Antony), Ashley Hamilton, Drew Hamilton, and Rene` Lee; two great-grandsons, Cooper and Jackson Ogden; one brother, Fred Moss of Hamilton; four sisters, Betty Dixon of Hamilton, Phyllis Montleone of Holt, Carol Stockton of Neosho, and Nancy Franklin of Columbia.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Hess and two brothers, Wendell Moss and Charles Moss. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Neosho. Pastor Rich Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in the Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery, south of Neosho. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at the Clark Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Barbara Cope to establish a NW Missouri Gas and Steam Engine Project in Honor of Bob and Jody, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, MO  64850. Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home in Neosho, Mo. Online condolences may be posted at www.clarkfuneralhomes.com.
