Robert Lee Hughson, Sr.

Robert Lee Hughson, Sr., age 90, a lifelong resident of Braymer, MO, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, MO.

Robert was born the son of Dayton and Reta (Kelly) Hughson on Dec. 13, 1930, in Braymer, MO. He was a 1949 graduate of Braymer High School. 

Robert was united in marriage to Wilma Lou Cox on Oct. 29, 1948, in Braymer. They were married for 72 years. She survives of the home. 

Robert was a farmer and a carpenter. He was a member of the McBee Chapel Church in rural Braymer until it’s closing. He served on the board of the Braymer Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and on the board of Consumers Co-op. He also volunteered his time with the Braymer FFA Chapter and with the Pleasant Hill Hustlers 4-H Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Carolyn Sue Hughson; brother, Dean Hughson, and sister-in-law, Doris Hughson; and his friends, Bob Phillips and Dorris Leakey.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Lou of the home; three sons, Robert "Bob" (Mary) Hughson of Braymer, Kenneth (Debra) Hughson of Sweet Springs, and Johnny (Jodie) Hughson of Orrick; one daughter, Carol (Jeff) Anderson of Braymer; ten grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Barbara) Hughson of Cameron; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at Phares Cemetery in Braymer on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. Memorial contributions may be made to the Braymer Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO, 64601.
