Ronald “Ron” Lynn Simmons

Ronald “Ron” Lynn Simmons, age 69, of Polo, MO, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at his home.

Ron was born on Sept. 9, 1948, in Kansas City, to Walter Thorton and Helen Elizabeth (Barnes) Simmons. He married Linda Carol Powell of Kansas City in 1971. They later divorced.

Ron was jack-of-all-trades, where he worked in construction, farming and worked hard his whole life. He loved his family, fishing and hunting. He liked to have a good time. His favorite thing to say was, “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere.” Ron lived in the Clay, Ray and Caldwell area most of his life.

Survivors include his two daughters and one-son-law, Ronda Watson of Columbia, and April (Michael) Green of Pilot Grove; two sisters, Linda Sue Richardson of Fishers, ID and Regina Gail Dickson of Kansas City; six grandchildren, Matthew Simmons, Jerimiah Watson, Logan Watson, Brandon Ballew, Evan Chadwick and Blake Green; and five great-grandchildren, Ryliegh, LJ, Payton, Keaton and Madison.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by stepfather, Jim Munden, and one brother who died in infancy.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Inurnment will be at later date.
