Ronald Ray Dunn passes away at 61

Ronald Ray Dunn, age 61, a resident of Bosworth and Hale, MO, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at his residence.

Ronald was born the son of Floyd J. and Zona Marie (Kavanaugh) Dunn on July 27, 1953, in Chillicothe. He was a 1972 graduate of Libby High School in Libby, MT. He graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education in Coalinga College, Coalinga, CA. He was a member of the Hale Baptist Church in Hale. He worked for the city of Libby, MT for a number of years before moving to Missouri. While in Libby, he served as a volunteer firefighter and also as Fire Chief. Ronald moved to Hale in 1990, from Libby, MT. Prior to that, he lived in Arizona, Colorado and California. While in Hale, he continued as a volunteer firefighter and served as Fire Chief for a number of years. He worked at Fullers Marketing in Carrollton for 19 years.

Survivors include his mother, Zona Dunn, of Hale; two sons, Trevor Scott Dunn (Kelly) of Chula and Drake Grossman of Bosworth; one daughter, Devin Grossman of Bosworth; one granddaughter, Zona (Zoey) Dunn of Chula, who lovingly referred to him as “Bop Bop”; special friend, Shiela Clark Wright of Bosworth; one brother, Rick Dunn (Leslie) of Phoenix, AZ; and two sisters, Charlotte Miller (Lee) of Hale and Rebecca Gann (Nick) of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd J. Dunn; and one brother, Randy Dunn.

He will be fondly missed by many young adults in Hale. He was known by many as Coach Ron. He dedicated many hours of time mentoring youth in the sport of basketball. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home in Hale on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will be held at Highland Cemetery in Hamilton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald Ray Dunn Memorial Fund, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P. O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
