Shirley Barnes

Shirley Barnes, age 78, left us on August 2, 2021, with her family by her side in Lathrop, MO. Shirley lived in Hamilton most of her life. Shirley was born Sept. 16, 1942, in Edgar, IL, to Eldredge and Delcena Jamison.

Shirley went to Hamilton High School and graduated in 1960. She then worked at Blue Castle, where she met Robert Barnes, and they eventually got married in 1962. She spent many years owning her own daycare, where she raised most of the kids in Hamilton. She then became a CMT and worked at the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Hamilton, the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cameron, and also worked at Liberty Terrace Care Center in Liberty.

Her interests included family, gardening, cooking, sewing, and reading/word books. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to her family members, including her adopted grandsons, who she loved to cook and care for whether it be night or day.  

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m., just prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Hamilton.
