From Bad to Worse

Fellow Americans,

America is the best place on earth to live, period.  People from all corners of the world have risked everything to come here in search of a better way of life for their families.  Most did it legally because they didn’t want to live in the “shadows” as fugitives.  Most had a desire to become American in language and culture.  They have assimilated into our society and have become productive members of their communities.  This is how immigration is supposed to work to benefit both the immigrant and the country.

But what happens when immigrants come to America without assimilating?  What happens when they don’t want to speak English or adopt our societal norms?  What happens when they don’t know or care about the Constitution and our history?  We end up with pockets of poor, uneducated, unskilled people scattered throughout the country, who cling to their third-world traditions.  This is bad for America because it keeps us from uniting.

Dozens of major U.S. cities give sanctuary to known illegal immigrants.  The city governments openly violate federal immigration laws by failing to hand over illegal immigrants to federal immigration officers.  Sometimes this occurs even when the illegal immigrants have been arrested for violent crimes!  Going from bad to worse, California has now declared itself a “sanctuary state” and brazenly gives a middle finger to you, me, and the entire federal immigration system!  The Kate Steinle murder case proves my point!

I don’t have anything against immigrants, as long as they follow the rules and properly assimilate.  I do, however, have a problem with illegal immigrants because we don’t know who they are or why they are here.  We don’t know what skills they possess, whether they are criminals, or whether they are infected with a communicable disease.

It’s time President Trump, as head of the Executive Branch, takes the bull by the horns to ensure federal laws are strictly enforced.  If that means charging city and state officials with obstruction of justice, then so be it.  It’s also time for Congress to appropriate the funds needed to “build a wall” and strengthen our southern border.  To learn more, go to www.americanthinker.com and read the article titled, “Time to Repeal the Disastrous 1965 Immigration Act.”

May God bless you and the United States of America!
