Bullets Stop Crazy

Fellow Americans,

On the morning of June 14, 2017, a crazy man opened fire on Republican lawmakers, staffers, and their families at a baseball field in Virginia near the capitol complex. Several were shot, some critically. It was reported the gunman fired dozens of rounds within several minutes, scattering the crowd at the ballpark. For a short time, the shooter was the only person in the area with a firearm; that is until two Capitol Police officers joined in. The police officers didn’t ask him to stop shooting. The officers didn’t try to reason with him. They MADE him stop shooting. After several minutes and dozens of rounds fired, the suspect was taken down. Thanks to the officers’ actions many lives were saved. Sadly, it took bullets to stop crazy.

Earlier this month in London, three crazy men drove a vehicle into a crown of pedestrians. When the vehicle stopped, the three men jumped out and began stabbing people at will. In all, 8 were killed and 48 were injured. Unarmed police officers intervened but were unable to stop the carnage. The violence didn’t end until armed officers arrived on scene and shot the terrorists dead. Once again, it took bullets to stop crazy.

Remember the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013? Two crazy brothers planted homemade bombs among thousands of spectators, including women and children. The bombs exploded, killing 3 people and wounding hundreds. The bombers fled the scene and were eventually tracked down by police. After a police chase and shoot-out, one madman surrendered without further incident and the other didn’t. He was killed by the police. Again, bullets stopped crazy.

I know there are people in the world who hate guns, blaming them for the violence. They eagerly use these tragedies to call for stricter gun control. Let’s not forget there are many ways to injure or kill people if one has a mind to. The first-ever recorded act of violence occurred when Cain killed Abel with a rock. Since then, countless objects have been used to hurt people. We can’t prevent all acts of violence or outlaw all would-be weapons. Instead, we can arm-up and defend ourselves and others against crazy.

Please pray for our police, military, and first-responders. May God bless you and the United States of America!
