Weisz is state winner in agriculture mechanics repair and maintenance placement proficiency award area
COLUMBIA, Mo., April 21, 2016 – Cody Weisz of Norborne, Mo., won the Missouri FFA Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Placement Proficiency Award at the 88th Missouri FFA Convention.
Weisz, a graduate of Norborne High School, is the son of Ben Weisz. He is a member of the Norborne FFA Chapter His advisor is Kelly Lee.
Weisz’s supervised agricultural experience program consists of his employment at Todd Creason Construction Inc. along with working for a local farmer in Linn, Mo. His responsibilities include repair and maintenance of service vehicles, construction, farming and operating oil production equipment.
In the past he has worked for Weisz Welding where he learned various important mechanical and welding skills. He also has worked for Ag Power, a John Deere dealership, where he helped construct new machines, repair small engines, service motors and machines as well as taking care of other tasks in the shop.
As a member of FFA, Weisz attended the Greenhand Motivational Conference and national and state conventions. He has exhibited at the Missouri State Fair and competed in the rituals contest and the FFA knowledge career development event.
In addition to FFA, Weisz has participated in football, golf, academic team and the science Olympiad.
Weisz is attending State Technical College, Linn, Mo., where he is becoming a certified heavy equipment operator. Upon graduation, he plans to continue working at Todd Creason Construction Inc.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agriculture Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Placement is one of 48 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Lincoln Electric Company sponsored this award.
