All-State Team Members Chosen

Hamilton’s LaTroy Harper was named to the Missouri Class 1 All-State first team as a wide receiver and rightfully so, he was the Class 1 state champions’ top receiver, but he did more than just catch the ball for Hamilton.

He also spent time as the quarterback in both drop-back and wildcat formations, and also took snaps at running back.

All told, he racked up 1,687 yards on offense with 1,276 receiving, 344 on the ground and passing for 67 yards.

Harper finished the year with 20 touchdown receptions and 6 rushing touchdowns.

The junior also earned first-team recognition as a returner, taking two punts back for touchdowns and he took one kickoff to the house.

The all-purpose back found a way to score in every single game and for the final six weeks of the year he scored multiple touchdowns in every game. During that six-week span, on three separate occasions he reached the end zone four times.

Harper wasn’t the only Hornet to grace the Class 1 All-State team. Eight Hamilton players filled nine spots and head coach Caleb Obert was named coach of the year for guiding the Hornets to their fourth state title.

Quarterback Jaran Richman, running back Brock Windler, along with offensive linemen Clayton Cook and Judde Moore earned recognition of the first-team offense.

Richman threw for 2,141 yards and 33 touchdowns with just six interceptions mixed in. He was also the team’s second leading rusher, racking up 556 yards on the ground and 11 touchdowns.

The workhorse for the Hornets offense was Swindler, who toted the rock 211 times gaining 1,803 yards and a team-high 24 touchdowns.

Defensive lineman Garrett Trosper and Kenney Pulley, along with defensive back Derek Dixon all made the first-team defense.

Polo’s Gunnar Martin also was named to the first-team squad for the second time after rushing for 2,630 yards and 37 touchdowns.
