Bobcats face Hughesville in final round of sectionals

On Wednesday night the Bobcats met Northwest of Hughesville in the final round of sectional play.  This time the coin toss gave Braymer the home team advantage. 

Keaton O’Dell was starting pitcher. Northwest was able to get men on due to errors and scored 3 runs. In Braymer’s half, Keaton singled, Logan O’Dell walked, and Jordan grounded out to the pitcher moving Keaton to third and Logan to second. Drake Parker hit a double to center field scoring Keaton and Logan. Jake Gladieux walked, then Robbie Shoe singled, bringing Parker home. Next batter struck out ending the inning in a tie, 3 to 3. 

Second inning they scored 2 runs. Braymer was 3 up and 3 down. 

In the third inning they scored 1 run. Bobcats had 3 men on base but were unable to bring them home. 

In the fourth inning with 2 outs Northwest got 3 on base scoring 1. Jordan caught a fly ball for the third out. We started the bottom of  the inning with Corbin McCulley being hit by a pitch, then 2 long fly balls or outs, Logan walked, Jordan hit a single to left field bringing Corbin home. Drake Parker hit a single bringing Logan home. A pop fly-out left 2 stranded.  Logan moved in to pitch the fifth inning. They had outs with a ground out to pitcher, fielders choice out to runner at second, and line out to second base. Hunter Heussner got on with an error. Corbin was hit by a pitch. Gabe hit a triple to right field sending Hunter home. Corbin was thrown out at home. Keaton singled to score Gabe. A strike out ended the inning. Score Northwest 8 to Bobcat 7. 

In the sixth inning Jordan moved in to pitch due to an injury on Logan’s palm. The first batter got to base on a dropped strike. The next two batters were hit by pitches. Next 2 batters were out on pop flies to Gabe. Walked in a runner and another runner came home on a hit by a pitch. A single to center field scored 2. A fly ball to Corbin in center field was the third out. Bobcats got nothing going in their half.  

In the top of the seventh the first batter walked and then Gabe moved in to pitch. Jordan leaft with a sore arm. A fielders choice put runner to second, single to center field moved runner and another single scored two. Ground out to Logan at short, ended that half. Corbin reached first on an error. Gabe doubled to center field scoring Corbin.  Keaton flied out to center field and Logan walked. Jordan reached base on a fielder’s choice. Gabe scored. Drake ground out to shortstop scoring Logan. Jake hit a single scoring Jordan. Robbie was hit by a pitch. Hunter ground out to second base to end the game. 

A hard played game with lots of effort but the Bobcats came up short losing 15 to 11. Drake had 4 RBIs, Gabe and Jordan 2 each, Keaton, Jake, and Robbie 1 each. 

The team ends the season 13 and 5 with the District Championship, and a trip to Sectionals. Not bad for a team that has only played together two years and had only three seniors on the team. This young team should continue to make Braymer proud for several years to come.

Logan O’Dell, Jordan Miller, and Gabe Rogers were named to the all district team.
