Braymer faces Van Horn in championship game

Braymer faced Van Horn for the championship game at the Bill Burns tournament in Lathrop on Saturday afternoon.

Van Horn made a 5 point run to start the game. Braymer stepped up their defense and tied the game with a little over 2 minutes left in the 1st. The rest of the first quarter was back and forth scoring, but Braymer pulled ahead by 1 at the end of the quarter.

The second quarter was pretty evenly paced. The lead was traded off several times, but  with O'Dell and Gates free-throw shooting, Braymer pulled ahead by 3 to end the half 30 to 27.

After half-time, Van Horn went up by 4 with a couple missed shots on the Bobcat end. O'Dell's free-throw shooting, end to end basket making, and an under handed scoop shot, helped pull the Bobcats lead back up to 8 by the end of 3.

Fourth quarter showed several exchanges of the lead. Van Horn held O'Dell to only 2 points in the 4th quarter. The last lead Braymer had was a little over 2 minutes left in the quarter. Van Horn had control after this and won the game 62 to 55.

Once again, O'Dell's free throw shooting was amazing. He was 13 for 14. The team's free throw shooting was 20 for 22. That didn't win the game this time, but I would imagine Coach Cox was pretty proud of his boys. O'Dell had 31 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 1 deflection. Miller had 12 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals, and 1 block. Dudley had 8 points and 2 rebounds. Shoe had 4 rebounds and 1 steal. Gates had 2 points, 2 steals and 1 assist. Rogers had 2 points  and 1 rebound. Braymer took home the 2nd place trophy. Way to go Bobcats.

Braymer plays next at home Tuesday night vs. Albany. Come out and support your Bobcats and Lady Cats.
