Braymer Lady Bobcats Over Lady Hornets

The Lady Bobcats from Braymer played the Hamilton Lady Hornets in the 22nd Annual Hamilton Invitational Basketball Tournament for the opportunity to play for the Consolation Trophy.

After a close first quarter, Braymer extended their advantage in the 2nd and 3rd quarters before holding on in the 4th to come away with a 47-42 win. Hamilton's Kassie Moore scored 4 of her team's 6 first quarter points as Braymer led 8-6 after the first period. Meredith Clevenger scored 3 of the 6 points by Penney High in the 2nd quarter as the Lady Bobcats took a 22-12 half time lead.

Clevenger would score 10 points in the 3rd quarter, but Braymer extended their lead heading into the final period, 38-26. The Lady Hornets battled down the stretch with Moore scoring 9 fourth quarter points, but with starters Clevenger fouling out with 2:23 left in the game and Tegan Bruce doing the same at the 1:41 mark, Braymer was able to hold on for a 47-42 win.

Moore led Hamilton with 17 points followed closely by Clevenger's 16 that included one 3-pointer. Bruce made 4 points, Cydnee Kipp hit a 3-pointer, and Mariah Blackburn scored 1 for Penney. Murphy and Mati Park, and Skyler Adkison also saw game action. The Lady Bobcats were led by Mallory Hughson with a game high 18 points. Katie Owen scored 11 points, Madison Mallory 9, Gabby Saul 5, Kelsey Stone 3, and Maggie Phillips 1. Brooklyn Moore also got some playing time. Hamilton hit 14 of 26 free throws compared to 14 for 21 by Braymer.
