Braymer Lady Cats defeat Lady Bulldogs and take on Southwest Wildcats

Last week was the District 13 Tournament at Norborne.

In round 1 the Lady Cats played the Hardin-Central Lady Bulldogs. First quarter saw the Lady Cats take a 13 to 10 lead.

They scored 13 points in the second quarter holding the Lady Bulldogs to 8, taking a 26 to 18 lead to half time break.

Third quarter saw the Lady Cats still holding the lead, scoring 14 points as they held to Lady Bulldogs to 10.

Fourth quarter the Lady Cats took an 11 to 6 lead for a final score of 51 to 34. 

Madison Mallory lead scorers with 22, Mallory Hughson had 6, Katie Owen had 6 and Kelsey Stone rounded out the scoring with 3. Madison Mallory had 7 rebounds and 8 steals. Mallory Hughson had 4 rebounds and 6 steals. Katie Owen had 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Brooklyn Moore had 3 rebounds. Gabby Saul had 1 rebound. Kelsey Stone had 1 steal.

The Semi final Round found the Lady Cats facing off with the Lady Wildcats of Southwest. The Lady Cats got off to an 11 to 9 lead in the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the Lady Wildcats catch up and pull ahead scoring 10 points before the Lady Cats could get a basket. The Lady Cats then scored 8 holding the Lady Wildcats to 2 in the last four minutes of the quarter to go to half down 21 to 19.

Third quarter was a close match with the teams trading bucket with Braymer coming up 2 points short to end the quarter down 31 to 27. Third quarter saw the Lady Wildcats going to the free throw line 17 times while the Lady Cats only had 4 freebies. 

Fourth quarter ended with the Lady Cats scoring 11 and the Lady Wildcats 23. Final score was 54 to 38. 

Madison Mallory Lead with 17 points which included 3 three point shots, Mallory Hughson had 13 points, and Katie Owen had 8 to finish the scoring. Madison had 9 rebounds, Katie had 6, Mallory and Brooklyn Moore each had 4 and Maggie Phillips had 1.

It was an early end to the season but it was a season the Ladies can be proud of. They had played their hearts out and gave their best. We will miss the seniors next year but are looking forward to seeing what the younger girls can do.
