Hamilton Hornets finish with a 69-54 KCI win over Plattsburg
Coach Rick Ross and the Hornets completed the sweep in the second contest of the night.
The Hornets out scored the Tigers 15-8 in the first and 22-15 in the second for a 37-23 half time lead, with the final 2 points on a running one hander at the buzzer by Jaran Richman. Hamilton extended their lead, 54-36, by the end of the third, and finished with a 69-54 KCI win.
Again Penney had a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures. Richman scored 14, Mason McFall, Telly Harper, and Latroy Harper each with 13. Korby Ford was next with 8 followed by Derek Dixon's 4, Wesley Pratt 3, and Reed Henderson 1. Richman added 8 rebounds, 8 assists, and 1 steal to his stat line. Latroy made both free throws attempted, grabbed 1 board, assisted on 1 basket, and stole the ball twice. Telly recorded 7 rebounds, assisted on 3 baskets, and blocked a shot. Ford handed out 3 assists and rebounded the ball twice. McFall added a rebound, and Dixon hit both of his free throw attempts. Ernat snared 1 rebound and delivered 1 assist, and Pratt led the team in steals with 3 while rebounding the ball once and assisting on 1 basket. Henderson was credited with 1 rebound and Drake Brown teamed up with Henderson for some valuable playing time, allowing the starters a break during the game.
The Hornets hit 21 of 35 free throws to Plattsburg's 5 for 11. The Penney press created a number of turnovers by the Tigers. Hamilton enters the Lawson Tournament with a record of 6-2, 2-0 in the KCI.
