Hamilton Lady Hornets lose opener to Lady Cardinals

Hamilton's Lady Hornet basketball team played host to a very talented North Mercer team on December 1st. The Lady Cardinals led 19-5 after the opening quarter, and 35-13 at the half, on their way to a 70-38 win. 

Penney High was led in scoring by freshman Nora Ford with 14 points, including two 3-pointers. Tegan Bruce was next with 10 points, Graycen Prothero netted 9 points, Kassie Moore had 3, and Mati Park 2. Mercer was led by 5'-11" senior guard Bailey Owens who hit six 3-pointers on her way to a game high 28 points. Another senior guard for the Cardinals, Lindsay Wyatt, scored 23, including five 3-pointers. As a team, Hamilton hit 4 out of 16 free throws while the visitors made 7 of 13. Other Lady Hornets who received playing time included Murphy Park, McKauley Prothero, Jessica Richman, Lakota Johnson, Hannah Graham, and Atison Allsup.

PHS coach Jordan Richman's team will see their next action in the KCI Tournament at East Buchanan in Gower.
