Lady Cats win over Brookfield

On Thursday evening the Lady Cats faced the Brookfield Lady Dogs in Semi finals of the Lathrop tourney.

This proved to be a nail biter for the crowd with many switches in the lead. The Lady Dogs took a lead in the first quarter of 13 to 6; however in the second quarter the Lady Cats started getting their shots to fall and out scored the Lady Dogs 12 to 7.

The Lady Dogs took a 20 to 18 lead into the half time break. Third quarter saw the Lady Cats at the free throw line 8 times scoring 5 points. Madison Mallory added a shot from outside the three point line and Kelsey Stone had an inside shot for 10 points. The Lady Dogs only managed 6 points.

Fourth quarter the Lady Cats shot 8 free throws scoring 6 with 3 of those being by Kelsey after being fouled on a three point shot. The Lady Cats took a one point lead with 2:48 left in the quarter. The Lady Dogs got it back at 2:33 remaining. Madison Mallory tied the game with a free throw with 40 seconds left and Katie Owen took the win when she hit one of two free throws with 13 seconds left.

Final score was 34 to 33 in favor of the Lady Cats.

Kelsey Stone was lead scorer with 14, Madison Mallory had 9, Mallory Hughson had 6 and Katie Owen had 5. Madison and Katie each had 5 rebounds, Mallory and Brooklyn Moore each had 4 and Kelsey had 2. The girls move on to the championship game on Saturday.
