Lady Hornets Downed by Trenton at Lawson

In the first round of the Lawson Tournament, the Lady Hornets faced the second seeded Trenton Lady Bulldogs.

Penney High played the Bulldogs even up in the first 8 minutes, each team scoring 8 points. However, Trenton took over the game in the second quarter, out scoring Hamilton 19-7. It was much of the same in the 3rd with the Bulldogs scoring 16 points to the Hornets 8, and finishing with a 56-32 Trenton win.

Meredith Clevenger and McKauley Prothero led Penney with 10 points apiece, followed by 7 for Teagan Bruce, 3 by Mariah Blackburn, and 2 from Kassie Moore. Clevenger led the team in rebounds with 6 to go with 1 steal. Bruce recorded 5 rebounds and 1 steal, and Prothero rebounded the ball 4 times. Cydnee Kipp grabbed 2 rebounds, Kassie Moore and Blackburn 1 each, and Mati Park stole the ball once.

Trenton's Whitley Richman from Trenton led all scorers with 20. Hamilton made 2 of 11 free throws to the bulldogs 11 for 15.
