Reed and Roberts Take 1st at Mid Buchanan Tournament

Marc Schmidt's Hamilton Hornet wrestling team traveled to Faucett last weekend for the Mid Buchanan Tournament.

Radley Reed pinned Joey Livigne (Lafayette) in 1:52 to take first place in the 106 class. Jacob Roberts also finished first when he pinned Will Engel (Albany) in 1:09 in the 120 weight class. Hamilton's Derek Aikin won a major decision (11-2) in the 132 lb. class over Mid Buchanan's Derek Payne for a 3rd place finish. In the 138 lb. class, Penney's Daniel Ragel pinned Hunter Hoelscher (Lone Jack) in 4:16 for 5th. Lane Horinek lost a close decision (4-2) in the 152 lb. class, 5th place match to Maryville's Jackson Sanders. Garrett Trosper took 3rd place in the 285 class, with a 3-0 decision over Justin Leath from lone Jack.

Hamilton placed 6th out of 12 teams. Penney will host Mid Buchanan and Lafayette in a tri-meet at 5:30 on January 19th, and W. Platte and Carrollton at 6:00 on January 21st. This will be the only home meets of the wrestling season for the Hornets.
