State golf results

Penney High golfer Samantha (Sam) Cornelius completed another fine year on the links, finishing tied for 10th at the Class 1 State Golf Tournament at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield.

Cornelius shot a 13 over par 85 on day one, but came back the second day with an 80 to move up the leader board five spots. Sam won the Class 1, District 6 Tournament at Green Hills Golf Course in Chillicothe with a score of ten over par.

Also moving on out of District competition and tying for eleventh was Hamilton Hornet Addison Cornett who shot a 30 over par 102. In the Class 1, Section 3 contest at Kirksville Country Club. Sam placed second while shooting a 20 over par 91. Cornett placed 39th, but was eliminated from moving on to the State Tournament. Cornelius, a sophomore, also qualified for State her freshman year for Penney High School.
