State Track Results
Coach Rick Ross and his Class 2 Hornets competed at the Missouri State High School Track & Field Championships this past Friday and Saturday in Jefferson City at Adkins Stadium, home of Jefferson City High School, where the weather was near perfect.
On opening day, junior Brock Swindler placed 2nd in the triple jump with a distance of 44'-01.00" and Telly Harper (Sr.) placed 6th with a leap of 41'-09.75". The 4 x 800m relay team of Jaran Richman (Jr.), and sophomores Crayton Crawford, Andrew Ernat, and Derek Dixon placed 4th in a Penney High School record time of 8:23.54. The previous record time of 8:23.98 was held by Jonathan Pickrell, Joseph Pickrell, Eric Zorn, and Keagan Prather in 2008. Senior Jessica Noble placed 5th in the 800m run with a time of 2:24.46. On day two, Derek Dixon placed 6th in the 800m run with a time of 2:02.59, and Brock Swindler placed 8th in the long jump with a distance of 19'-10.5". The men placed 11th overall at this year's State meet. Congratulations to these medalists and the record breaking members of the 4 x 800m relay team.
Braymer and Polo Medaled at the State competition. Braymer coaches Craig Railsback and Addy Floyd, and Polo's Jonathan Pickrell each had medalists at this year's Class 1 State Track & Field Championship in Jefferson City. For the Bobcats, Jordan Miller (Jr.) placed 6th in the triple jump with a leap of 41'-01.00" and Mallory Hughson (Sr.) placed 7th in the 300 m hurdles in a time of 48.62. The Panther 4x400m relay team of Parker Smith (Sr.), Patrick Covey (Soph.), Dalton Frazier (Soph.) and Cole Bartlett (Jr.) placed 6th with a time of 3:35.64.
