Strong 4th Quarter Gives Panthers GRC Victory

The Polo Panthers and the South Harrison Bulldogs battled for three quarters, then the Panthers caught fire in the 4th to claim a Grand River Conference basketball victory.

The Bulldogs led 20-16 after the first quarter, 32-27 at the half and 46-44 heading into the 4th when the Panthers scored 26 points while holding South Harrison to 7, giving Polo a 70-53 win.

Coach Jonathan Pickrell remarked, "Our team effort was tremendous coming out from halftime. We really put the clamps down on defense in the 4th quarter."

Parker Smith tied for the Panther team lead in scoring with 23 and led the team in steals with 4 while adding 6 rebounds and 5 assists. James Fleener also scored 23 points and led the team in rebounds with 14 for a double/double, stole the ball twice and assisted on 2 baskets. Cole Bartlett also scored in double figures with 13, led the team in assists with 6, and grabbed 3 rebounds. "Parker and James hit some tough shots in the 2nd half, but Cole Bartlett really did a great job running the show from the point guard position" said Coach Pickrell.
